Syftet med denna studie var att, inom ramarna för västerländsk dans- och musikkonst, undersöka hurmusikaliska parametrar uppmuntrar ett förkroppsligande i form av dans eller rörelse. Som musikaliskreferens använder jag mitt orkesterstycke Palett: Purpur (2024). Förfarandet för undersökningenbörjade med att efterforska om dansens och musikens historiska utveckling inom västerländskbalettkonst samt diskutera begreppet “dans” och vad det kan innefatta. Vidare beskriver jag kort ombegreppen “absolut musik” och “programmusik” som kan vara relevanta perspektiv i musikens ochdansens relation. Vidare beskriver jag kort ombegreppen “absolut musik” och “programmusik” som kan vara relevanta perspektiv i musikens ochdansens relation. Sedan, för att upptäcka de potentiella danselementen som är inbäddade specifikt imin musik, träffade jag två personer med stor kunskap inom ämnet dans och rörelse, och lät demreagera på mitt stycke och beskriva deras uppfattningar om musiken. Med detta empiriska materialkunde jag analysera deras uppfattningar och jämföra dem med mina ursprungliga rörelseidéer tillstycket. Resultatet visar att båda informanter uppfattar de stora dramaturgiska dragen i mitt styckePalett: Purpur, och ser flera olika möjligheter till förkroppsligande i form av dans eller rörelse.Utifrån deras perspektiv finns dock aspekter som riskerar hindra dansen från att komma till sin rätt ijust denna musikaliska kontext.
