The results show that social workers experience contradicting terms in their experiences working with undocumented clients. The experiences also vary between social workers in non-profit organisations compared to social workers in communal and regional work. Moreover, the social workers describe different strategies for handling the occurring contradictions in working with undocumented clients. The main strategies fit within their room of action while some of the strategies challenge the boundaries or even occur outside the boundaries of their room of action. Through our analysis we have been able to determine a relation between how the social workers experience their room of action with their feeling of responsibility towards undocumented clients. A smaller room of action shows less feeling of responsibility, whereas a bigger room of action shows a stronger feeling of responsibility. (Less)
