By examining notions of entanglement, and the different ways in which knowledge is understood and... (More)
- This essay explores the critiques of modernity from posthuman and Indigenous perspectives, exploring their convergences and divergences. It argues that both frameworks challenge the anthropocentric and dualistic paradigms that have historically governed Western thought. Posthumanism encourages ontological humility by recognizing the non-dual nature of existence and more-than-human agency, while Indigenous cosmologies go beyond being a critique in their origin as a land-based knowledge tradition. These perspectives shed light on the limitations of traditional sustainability models rooted in economic predictability and human exceptionalism. By examining notions of entanglement, and the different ways in which knowledge is understood and transmitted in these traditions, the essay suggests that integrating these perspectives can lead to more holistic approaches to environmental governance. The research underscores the potential of cross-pollination between posthumanist thought and Indigenous experiential cosmology to explore new dimensions in addressing ecological crises. Key themes include the entanglement, land-based knowledge, and the need for a reorientation of ethical and political frameworks that respect diverse ways of knowing and being. (Less)
