- Abstract
- This thesis explores the backgrounds and socio-ecological systems of ethnic communities in rapidly growing coffee destinations in Chiang Mai province, Thailand. Using a political ecology approach, it investigates the resilience of coffee-producing villages where ethnic minorities maintain unique cultures and identity. The study highlights ecological vulnerability and socio-political marginalisation providing multi-dimensional views of ethnic coffee communities. Employing qualitative methods, including observation and in-depth interviews, it examines land-use practices, agricultural management, and the impacts of conservation laws and traditional customs.
