Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Deltagare i alla patientgrupperna genomförde testet långsammare än dem i kontrollgruppen (båda p <0,010). Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties and the clinical utility of a Swedish version of the Hayling Sentence Completion Test in distinguishing between adults with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, n = 47), autism spectrum disorder (ASD, n = 33) and co-occurring ADHD and ASD
(n = 31). The Hayling test is a neuropsychological test designed to measure response initiation and inhibition. Psychometric evaluation, based on data from healthy controls (n = 89), showed mixed properties regarding internal consistency for different measures (α = .18–.85), though similar to the original version of the test. Inter-rater reliability using Intra Class Correlation ranged between .62 and .96 for different items and was .87... (More)

Inter-rater reliability using Intra Class Correlation ranged between .62 and .96 for different items and was .87 overall. In this study no correlation with the Color Word Interference Test, another measure of inhibition, was found. This highlights the need for further investigations as to what the Hayling test actually measures. Participants in the clinical groups completed the test significantly slower than controls (both p < .010). There were no differences in test performance between any of the clinical groups, demonstrating that the Hayling test has limited clinical utility in differentiating between adults with ADHD and/or ASD. We argue that Swedish norms as well as a manual for scoring need to be developed for this version of the test to improve its psychometric properties. While we did not find evidence for clinical utility in adult ADHD and/or ASD, this version of the Hayling test might be useful in differentiating between other clinical groups. (Less)
