- Abstract
- This Master's thesis explores how municipal archivists in selected municipalities in Skåne, Sweden, perceive and manage archival collections composed of diverse data carriers. Drawing on practice theory and based on qualitative interviews, the study addresses three analytical categories: the view on mixed collections, which highlights perceived challenges; routines, which examine the strategies employed; and conditions, which explore the contextual factors shaping archival practices. The findings suggest that archivists’ work with hybrid or mixed-media collections is primarily shaped by material and social conditions, such as limited technical infrastructure, understaffing, and political priorities.
