- Abstract
- This study aimed to explore the role of medical social workers during acute crises in somatic healthcare settings. A qualitative research design was used, based on semi-structured interviews with hospital-based workers. Thematic analysis was employed to explore the expectations placed on health social workers during acute crises. The findings showed that social workers play a multifaceted role, marked by emotional presence, ethical responsibility, and a holistic perspective that includes practical support, information sharing, and coordination with other professionals.
