- Abstract
- In this study, we focused on highlighting the importance of relationships between the professional and the client in HVB. The aim was to investigate how the relationship could contribute to preventing recidivism in adolescents and young adults. The study was qualitative and based on our semi-structured interviews to get in-depth reflections and experiences of their work. We used a purposive sampling where we selected HVBs that are relevant to our study. The interviewees had experience working in social work for at least two years, so the interviews gave us well-founded insights. We gained different
perspectives by interviewing different professional titles and thus different experiences. Our study resulted in several interacting factors... The interviewees had experience working in social work for at least two years, so the interviews gave us well-founded insights. We gained different
perspectives by interviewing different professional titles and thus different experiences. Our study resulted in several interacting factors that contributed to the creation of relationships
and the prevention of recidivism. Some of the factors were a safe environment, attachment, client participation, professional distance and closeness, and the willingness to change. We concluded that relationships should be fundamental in all social work professions, and the client should be used as the most important factor in the change process by giving it some
influence over that process. (Less)
