Abstract
Industrial areas have played a vital role in shaping cities, serving as economic centers and employment places for decades. However, with economic trends drifting and other technological advancements lead to the constant change of industrial areas. They mostly became abandoned or underutilized due to this. These transitions created plenty of environmental, social and economic challenges including land degradation, pollution and disruption of the urban tissue. To overcome these challenges, it is essential to propose innovative urban design strategies that not only focus on the negative impacts of the industrial background of the site but also transform these areas into more cohesive, multifunctional spaces that contribute to the broader... However, with economic trends drifting and other technological advancements lead to the constant change of industrial areas. They mostly became abandoned or underutilized due to this. These transitions created plenty of environmental, social and economic challenges including land degradation, pollution and disruption of the urban tissue. To overcome these challenges, it is essential to propose innovative urban design strategies that not only focus on the negative impacts of the industrial background of the site but also transform these areas into more cohesive, multifunctional spaces that contribute to the broader urban fabric. This thesis explores aims and solutions for the abandoned industrial areas to transform them into more vibrant, multifunctional urban spaces. By implementing ecological restoration techniques, integrating adaptive reuse of the old buildings and community-oriented planning this project seeks to enhance the socio-economic and environmental value of the selected site. Most important visions or aims of the project is the preservation of industrial heritage, remediation of the nature through green infrastructure strategies, promotion of sustainable mobility and producing public spaces that enhances social interaction and economic activity. These aims shape the framework by balancing historical preservation and contemporary urban needs, make certain that the proposed site become dynamic that contribute to the broader urban fabric.
