- Abstract
- The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how regenerative principles can be applied to transform post-industrial areas into a sustainable urban area. The study intends to identify strategies and solutions that not only reduce the area's climate impact, but also contribute to regenerating ecosystems, strengthening biodiversity and creating an inclusive and socially sustainable environment for people to live and work in.
The study is based on a combination of literature studies, case study, document studies and interviews. (More) - The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how regenerative principles can be applied to transform post-industrial areas into a sustainable urban area. The study intends to identify strategies and solutions that not only reduce the area's climate impact, but also contribute to regenerating ecosystems, strengthening biodiversity and creating an inclusive and socially sustainable environment for people to live and work in.
The study is based on a combination of literature studies, case study, document studies and interviews. Initially, a literature review was conducted with the aim of deepening the understanding of regenerative urban development and its application in post-industrial areas, as well as to create an understanding of Gåsebäck's version. This was followed by a document analysis where planning documents on various sustainable strategies linked to Gåsebäck were reviewed. Finally, qualitative interviews were conducted with six people who have worked with either a post-industrial area such as Gåsebäck or Varvsstaden, or with urban development in Helsingborg. The purpose was to gain a deeper insight into how regenerative principles can be applied in the development of post-industrial areas and the challenges and opportunities that arise when applying regenerative principles. The interviews also aimed at how these can contribute to creating socially sustainable and inclusive environments in areas.
The results of the study have shown that various regenerative principles are applied in the transformation of post-industrial areas such as Gåsebäck. The study has also highlighted that these principles can contribute to creating positive effects for socially sustainable and inclusive environments. At the same time, the study has identified several challenges in the transformation process, such as economic and legal barriers. (Less) - Abstract (Swedish)

Syftet var för att få en djupare insikt i hur regenerativa principer kan tillämpas i utvecklingen av post-industriella områden samt utmaningar och möjligheter som uppstår vid tillämpning av regenerativa principer. Intervjuerna syftade även till hur dessa kan bidra till att skapa socialt hållbara och inkluderande miljöer i områden.
Studien har visat att olika regenerativa principer tillämpas i omvandlingen av post-industriella områden som Gåsebäck. Den har även belyst hur dessa principer kan bidra till att skapa positiva effekter för socialt hållbara och inkluderande miljöer. Samtidigt har studien identifierat flera utmaningar i omvandlingsprocessen, såsom ekonomiska och juridiska hinder. (Less)
