Abstract
Purpose & goal:
The purpose is to investigate how the collaboration between the client and the contractor contributes to the transition towards climate neutrality and to analyze how requirements and initiatives from both parties contribute to achieving the 2045 climate target.

The goal is to investigate factors that influence the methods in the client and contractor's collaboration during design and production, as well as what measures and courses of action they take to achieve the 2045 climate target. The study will also examine whether the client's requirements are sufficient or whether the contractor, with its broad knowledge, should be more active in the change work towards climate neutrality.

The study will also examine whether the client's requirements are sufficient or whether the contractor, with its broad knowledge, should be more active in the change work towards climate neutrality.

Problem:
What are the most important factors that influence the choice of climate-smart methods?

What is required to reach the 2045 climate target? What measures and courses of action are necessary in the collaboration between the client and the contractor?

How can collaboration between the client and the contractor drive change in the transition to climate-neutral construction?

Method:
To answer the study's questions, three reference projects were studied. A total of five people with relevant experience were interviewed through semi-structured interviews. The literature study formed the basis for the theory and was based primarily on scientific sources and documents from authorities.

Results:
Factors that influence the choice of climate-smart methods are primarily materials, transport, requirements from the authorities, lack of innovation and satisfied customer index. Major changes and development are required to achieve the roadmap's goals for 2045. In addition, well-functioning collaboration between clients and contractors is required to be able to drive the change process. By involving the contractor at an early stage, more innovative and sustainable solutions are identified. The contractor should also take an active role and propose solutions that can benefit the project. Finally, communication, a common goal, the right people and trust between clients and contractors are needed to achieve the climate goals in a project. If these parameters are not achieved, the collaboration risks becoming superficial and thus slowing down the development of the change process. (Less)

(Less)
