- Abstract
- Rising logistics costs and inefficiencies caused by Lindab Group’s current internal markup structure have prompted the company to consider a new logistics model. This study examines the feasibility of developing an internal third-party logistics (3PL) provider as a way to improve operations, increase profit and enhance coordination across the group. The research maps current distribution flows, identifies key opportunities and challenges and evaluates the group’s readiness to implement such a solution. Using a mixed-method case study, the thesis integrates stakeholder interviews and internal cost data to build a logistics cost model and assess maturity levels across strategic logistics elements. Findings show that an internal 3PL could... (More)

Using a mixed-method case study, the thesis integrates stakeholder interviews and internal cost data to build a logistics cost model and assess maturity levels across strategic logistics elements. Findings show that an internal 3PL could offer significant benefits through service-based pricing, operational focus and reduced complexity in product flows. However, successful implementation would require organizational restructuring, internal alignment and improved systems for cost transparency and information sharing. (Less)
