- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to illustrate social workers' experiences of treatment work with men who use, or have used, violence against their female partners and how they feel that the legal clarification in SoL affected the conditions for the treatment work with violent men. The results of our study showed that ”Alternatives to violence” was the most used method. It was practiced in combination with other... (More)

The results of our study showed that ”Alternatives to violence” was the most used method. It was practiced in combination with other methods to adapt the treatment to the individual client. Two central factors for the treatment results were the client's recognition of his problem and his motivation to undertake treatment. The client group had a heterogeneous composition, and the men primarily used situation-based violence. The majority of social workers claimed that the clarification in law had led to positive conditions, but they believed that it was not enough to be able to handle complex work, such as treatment work with violent men.
