Abstract
With unrest prominent in the entire world, cybersecurity is more important than ever before. With this, the need for education and strengthening practices within critical infrastructure and organisations is growing. This master’s thesis is done in collaboration with the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI) and aims to create a new Graphical User Interface (GUI) for their cybersecurity tool Scanning, Vulnerabilities, Exploits and Detection (SVED). FOI is a government agency that works within the cybersecurity field, which created the tool SVED and uses it to simulate cyber attacks to use in research and exercises. By creating a new GUI design for SVED, the goal is to make it easier to use, broaden the potential user group and utilise the full potential of the tool. This was done by following a user-centred design process with an initial user study and ideation process, followed by prototyping in three iterations. Between each iteration, different types of testing were done, with a final usability evaluation after the final prototype. The result became an interactive prototype that aimed to lay the foundation for a new SVED. The prototype structured a new flow of actions and four views, handling games and exercises. The final evaluation, including a System Usability Scale (SUS), showed that the prototype was well received by the participants. More future work is needed to implement the new system and further improve upon concepts first brought up in this thesis. (Less)
