Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The following study aimed to explore the extent of which behaviour frequency is confused with competence, and furthermore if the manipulation of perceived accountability has any effect on the relationship. From this, the following two hypotheses were formed, H1: Individuals exposed to high behaviour frequency will attribute higher competence to the person being judged, compared to those who are exposed to low behaviour frequency. And; H2: Participants in the accountability condition will attribute lower competence to persons with high behaviour frequency, compared to participants who have not experienced accountability manipulation. To answer this participants (N=98) have unknowingly been divided into two sets of groups, once to decide... (More)
The following study aimed to explore the extent of which behaviour frequency is confused with competence, and furthermore if the manipulation of perceived accountability has any effect on the relationship. To answer this participants (N=98) have unknowingly been divided into two sets of groups, once to decide which set of fictional persons the participants answered questions about, and once more to decide if their accountability would be manipulated. The participants were then instructed to read the characteristics of three different persons to create an image in their head of the given person. Results showed that the targets described as being more frequent in behaviors, were consistently rated as more competent by participants, in comparison to targets described as having low behaviour frequency. Results regarding the moderating effect of accountability on this relation were, however, not significant. (Less)
