Det är ett ofta återkommande problem för hornister att utöka sitt register, i detta fall höjdregistret. Det finns också en uppsjö av olika beskrivna övningsmetoder med detta syfte. Denna uppsats diskuterar, ur ett autoetnografiskt perspektiv, utökning av höjdregistret med hjälp av Brophys och Lejonclous övningsmetoder. Övningarna inkorporerades i den dagliga övningsrutinen och dokumenterades både skriftligt och genom videoinspelning. Detta resulterade i en halvtons ökning av registret vilket bekräftades i en konsertsituation. Den viktigaste insikten från studien var dock att effekten inte uppnåddes av att upprepade gånger försöka pricka samma ton utan snarare av ett generellt ökat fokus på en snabbare luftström.
Abstract
An often recurring problem for horn players is to expand their register, in this case the high register. Therefore, it is no wonder that there are a great number of different methods described for this purpose. This thesis discusses, from an autoethnographic perspective, the process of expanding the high register by using Brophy´s and Lejonclou´s practice methods. The exercises were incorporated into the daily practice routine and documented both in writing and through video recordings. This resulted in the expansion of the register by a semitone, which was confirmed in a concert situation.
