Designing AI Voice Assistant–Integrated User Experiences for In-Car Learning in Electric Vehicles Using XR Applications Enabled by Future 6G Technologies: A Case Study on Volvo Car’s Semi-Autonomous Pilot Assist System
(2025) IDEM05 20251Industrial Design
- Abstract
- The thesis project explores how emerging technologies and Al Voice
Assistants can enhance user understanding of electric vehicles by offering
more intuitive, adaptive, and immersive experiences. Users often face
challenges understanding how to interact with their vehicle’s autonomous
features effectively. This project focuses on bridging that gap by integrating
interaction design with Al and eXtended Reality (XR) to support more
inclusive and engaging learning experiences in the car. The aim is to design
and evaluate a prototype that reimagines the car user manual as an
intelligent, real-time, and user-friendly experience. Instead of relying on

and AI Voice Assistants could enable dynamic, context-aware support
through interaction design.
These interactions aim to assist users with real-time guidance and learning
with actual driving scenarios. This approach also opens up new possibilities
for personalized assistance and reducing cognitive load and supporting
better decision-making for diverse user groups. In the long term, the project
contributes to a more sustainable and inclusive vehicle-user relationship, and
promotes innovation that can improve road safety. (Less)
