Abstract (Swedish)
This study aims to highlight the discursive structures present in Sweden's integration policy document. It focuses on defining the concept of integration and how the subject is constructed in the policy document. The research is grounded in discourse theory and has a qualitative approach to reveal how language is represented in policy documents. It utilizes Carol Bacchi's analytical model, "What’sthe problem represented to be?" (WPR), to critically examine Sweden's integration policy by uncovering the underlying assumptions presented in the document. The theoretical framework includes concepts such as othering, the subject, social exclusion, and feminist nationalism, contributing to a thorough critique of the power structures and norms depicted within the policy.
The study reveals that integration is defined in terms of control, surveillance, and
re-immigration, positioning the subject with unilateral responsibility for the integration process. (Less)
