Inte som andra kvinnor: En intervjustudie om kvinnliga SD-ledamöters politiska engagemang

To better understand this apparent paradox, the study employs interviews with five female SD members using a phenomenological epistemological approach to highlight their lived experiences of political engagement. The analysis is centered around theories including ‘white border guard femininities’, ‘tough femininity’, and ‘respectability’. The findings suggest that the participants understand their own political commitment and participation in relation to their views on migrants and see themselves as defenders of the “Swedish gender equality”. Furthermore, they occupy a more masculine form of femininity to excel and compete in a male dominated field. This toughness is also used in their respectability strategy which makes them see themselves as superior to other women, whom they describe as weak and shy. (Less)
