- Abstract
- This study investigates the impact of the 2008 global financial crisis on adolescent mental health across 27 European countries using Health Behaviour in School aged Children (HBSC) survey data and a two-way fixed effects model. By examining five key symptoms, irritability, nervousness, feeling low, sleep difficulties, and body dissatisfaction, this study offers a detailed cross-national assessments of adolescent mental health post-crisis. While we find no consistent change in aggregate psychological distress, disaggregated analyses reveal significant increases in analyzed symptoms.
