Finns det ett samband mellan upplevd stress och arbetsminne? En kvantitativ studie bland studenter vid Lunds universitet.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka om det fanns ett samband mellan upplevd stress och arbetsminnet hos studenter på Lunds universitet samt om det fanns tydliga könsskillnader i den upplevda stressen. Studien var utformad med en inomgruppsdesign och genomfördes online via ett webbaserat enkätformulär som mätte upplevd stress och ett arbetsminnestest. Standardiserade mått användes för stress, Perceived Stress Scale-10, och arbetsminnesförmåga, Reversed Digit Span. Sambandet mellan stress och arbetsminne analyserades med hjälp av en multipel regressionsanalys och könsskillnader i stress analyserades med ett oberoende t-test. Detta innebär att stressnivåerna endast förklarar en mycket liten del av variationen i prestation på arbetsminnestestet. Vidare visar resultaten ingen statistisk signifikant skillnad i upplevd stress mellan de olika könen. Studien fann således inget stöd för att det skulle finnas ett samband mellan stress och arbetsminnet eller att detta skulle skilja sig mellan kön bland universitetsstudenter på Lunds universitet. Which means that stress levels explained only a very small proportion of the variance in working memory performance. Furthermore the results revealed no statistically significant difference in perceived stress between the different genders.
