Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the expectations and attitudes that social work students and graduated social workers have towards employment after graduation. The study population consisted of social work students enrolled in semesters 1-7, as well as recently graduated social workers who had completed their degree within one year or less. A quantitative approach was used with a web-based survey. The results showed that social work students expect favorable employment prospects after graduation, as they perceive the labor market to have low competition. There are differences in expectations and attitudes depending on students' stage in the educational program. These differences are influenced by prior experiences, perceived... (More)
The purpose of this study was to examine the expectations and attitudes that social work students and graduated social workers have towards employment after graduation. These differences are influenced by prior experiences, perceived self-ability, personal goals, and motivation to enter the labour market. The study demonstrates that students benefit from prior work-related experiences, such as internships and part-time employment, alongside their studies when transitioning into the labor market as newly graduated professionals. Furthermore, the findings indicate that internships constitute a central component in shaping students’ expectations and attitudes toward employment after graduation. (Less)
