The thesis is informed by Critical Discourse Analysis. In order to investigate the social constructions of reality, the thesis is a critical study of language related to ?Globalt Ansvar: Swedish Partnership for Global Responsibility? to identify through what discourses Collaboration on Corporate Social Responsibility is produced; and the implications in relation to Public Private Partnership. PPP is one aspect of a broader societal tendency where marketization of discourse may change the role of the state. The conclusions of the thesis contribute to the argument that the textual production of Collaboration on Corporate Social Responsibility is informed mainly by neoliberal discourses. Thus, the meaning is produced through discourses that articulate market incentives for PPP and CSR. The implications are that multinational corporations enter PPPs to strengthen their image while simultaneously advancing an agenda of minimal government regulation by ensuring that commitments to CSR remain voluntary. One affect is that by "privatizing" social issues to the jurisdiction of PPP-CSR policies / arrangements, the state is moving away from traditional roles and ways of doing politics: a shift from hierarchical, formal governance to horizontal, network-oriented governance.
