- Abstract
- The objective with the study is to examine the ten top art collectors of the world, appointed by the ARTnews 2006. It provides a background to the art trade and its dynamics, as well as background to assembling a high-classed art collection. The study brings up these persons' strong financial involvements in the art world, which make them core actors. By applying sociological theories by Pierre Bourdieu, Victoria D. Alexander and Thorstein Veblen, it aims to discern some of the structures within the art world.
Further the analyses and discussion is carried out surrounding four topics of the appointed collectors: Business Background and Education, Age, Collection Details and Art Market Activities.
