The investigation conducted in this report, has the discussions of this law proposal in parliament, as center of analysis. The focus of the analysis is the importance of language in the social construction of reality.

It is analyzed how homosexuals are presented in the parliament and how the debate in parliament influences the well being of Faroese homosexuals.

This investigation shows, that the presentation of homosexuals in the parliament is characterized by prejudices and a negative view of homosexuality. This is frustrating Faroese homosexuals a lot. They feel hurt by the harsh statements that are put forward by members of parliament. Nevertheless, their experiences are also rather ambivalent. The reason for this is, that a result of the debate is that homosexuality is no longer tabooed and therefore to some extent the Faroe Islands have become a better and more tolerant place for homosexuals to live in.
