Abstract
Foreign direct investment has become the single most important source of foreign capital to developing countries. Traditionally these foreign direct investments originated in developed countries but over the past decade foreign direct investments flows from developing countries have grown faster than from developed countries. These south-south foreign direct investments now constitute one third of foreign direct investment flows to developing countries. This study will examine the importance of foreign direct investment as a source of foreign capital and the factors influencing south-south foreign direct investment.
