- Abstract
- A questionnaire and a paper-and-pen Implicit Association Test were used to study attitudes to single life among native Swedish persons and Middle-East immigrants. There were 60 participants, balanced as regards culture, sex and age. All were singles. The main results were that Swedish/individualistic persons showed a more positive attitude to single life and higher psychological well-being as singles than Middle East/collectivistic persons. That women stressed the importance of their social network and had higher demands on a possible partner compared to men, and that older persons reported higher psychological well-being in their singles life compared to younger persons.
