The research is based on qualitative interviews with five women who have had eating disorders and medical personnel who specialize in treatment of eating disorders. We have found that some of the women have gone through several treatments and that they have the most positive experience from their latest treatment. Today most of the women are free from symptoms but still have negative thoughts about food and their appearances sometimes. The women have been affected by the eating disorder as well as the treatment. They all have some kind of physical marks and some of the women mean that they have been affected mentally by suffering from depressions and socially because of the loss of former friends. The women experience that the treatment has helped them to get better. (Less)
