- Abstract
- The aim of this study in the perspective of selfdetermination was to illustrate the living conditions of persons with mental disabilities, helprecievers, living in group homes. Besides that to illustrate staff members, helpers, attitudes towards helprecievers and their living conditions. The aim was also to recieve furter information of circumstances by reading. They were not connected to these helprecievers but were employed in a fourth group home. The interviewes were unstructured in order to give qualitative data. The helpers expected the helprecievers to improve themselfes, implying that hey would be more active and alert. The helpers used activating methods to try to change them. The helprecievers seamed to act in a humble way and the absence of initiative was a characteristic feature. They apprehended they had quite a lot of selfdetermination.
