- Abstract
- The purpose of this paper was to explain the project PROVE and the treatment given as well as to examine and clarify the manner in which the staff discuss and motivate their treatment methods within the various projects. - The purpose of this paper was to explain the project PROVE and the treatment given as well as to examine and clarify the manner in which the staff discuss and motivate their treatment methods within the various projects. The purpose was also to examine whether the staff's use of language is similar to that of government drug-addiction policy objectives and the discourse on addiction in society The questions asked, based on the purpose of the paper, focused on the treatment being provided within the projects and on how the various occupational groups such as social workers, nurses and doctors/psychiatrists view the treatment objectives. How does one motivate the treatment methods and is it possible to relate them to the current government drug-addiction policy and the discourse onaddiction in society. A qualitative method was used and unstructured thematic questions were put to the staff in the projects. The results of the study showed that the treatment given by the occupational groups social workers, nurses and doctors/psychiatrists is traditional in these occupational group and is based on the occupational skills within the social and medical fields. Furthermore the staff appear to motivate their treatment method on the basis of their professional knowledge as well as an understanding of the causes and complexities of heroin addiction. It would also appear that a common discourse is being developed in each project respectively. The projects overall objectives are motivated by this discourse, which is based on a common view on and an understanding of the causes of heroin addiction. The discourse being developed within each project comprises of a view of heroin addiction and treatment that is related to the existing government drug-addiction policy and the current discourse on addiction in society. Syftet med den här uppsatsen var att ge en bild av projekt PROVE och den behandlings som ges samt att undersöka och klargöra hur personalen talar om och motiverar sitt behandlingsarbete inom respektive projekt. Syftet var även att undersöka om personalens sätt att tala kunde kopplas till de narkotikapolitiska målen och missbruksdiskursen i samhället. Frågeställningarna kopplade till syftet fokuserades kring den behandling som ges inom projekten och hur yrkesgrupperna socialarbetare, sjuksköterskor och läkare/psykiatriker ser på dessa mål. Hur motiverar man behandlingsarbetet och kan det kopplas till den gällande narkotikapolitiken och missbruksdiskursen i samhället? En kvalitativ metod användes och ostrukturerade frågor utifrån teman ställdes till personalen på projekten. Resultaten av undersökningen visade att den behandling som ges av yrkesgrupperna socialarbetare, sjuksköterskor och läkare/psykiatriker är yrkestraditionell och bygger på yrkeskunskaper inom det sociala och det medicinska yrkesfältet. Personalen förefaller vidare motivera det egna behandlingsarbetet utifrån yrkeskunskaper samt utifrån en förståelse för heroinmissbrukets orsaker och problematik. Det förefaller även vara så att en gemensam samtalsordning (diskurs) verkar utvecklas inom respektive projekt. De övergripande målen för verksamheten motiveras utifrån denna diskurs som innefattar en gemensam syn och en förståelse för heroinmissbrukets orsaker. Den diskurs som utvecklas inom respektive projekt innefattar en syn på heroin missbruk och behandling som kan kopplas till den gällande narkotikapolitiken samt missbruksdiskursen i samhället. (Less)
