We made interviews with social welfare secretaries and staff in two different addictiontreatment programmes. We used the interviews to make a discourse analysis. A discourse can be explained as a statement that produces an interpretation of the world. The discourseanalytic task is to find patterns in the text and to discuss what social consequences different discourses lead to. We found areas of consensus and conflict between the three discourses. The areas of consensus deal with concrete situations in work with addiction treatment. The areas of conflict deal with the way relapse is defined and the basic view on addiction. (Less)
