- In Swedish society the demands on the adult literacy-rate are very high and due to migration Sweden has gotten a number of adult illiterates. This essay examines what possibilities an illiterate has to learn to write and read and receive possibilities to integrate with Swedish society and become independent. People who can’t read and write and migrates to Sweden shall not just learn the Swedish language, but also adapt to a whole set of rules for society, which at the same time ought to be thought through writing. In this essay the possibilities and obstacles that occur during the learning process of reading and writing and what demands are reasonable to make will be examined.
