Abstract
The purpose of this essay was to illustrate privatisation of health care from various outlooks. I illustrated the effects of privatisation from the perspective of users and employees. The following questions have been the basis of the essay: What is meant by privatisation of health care in Skåne Region? What is the motive for privatisation? Which are the effects of privatisation? What about risks related to privatisation? Has privatisation any future? A comparative method with qualitative interviews has been used to answer my questions. I interviewed two politicians from different parties, three representatives of the trade union and one managing director of Specialisthuset AB (specialist care), which has been privatised. I also used literature based on earlier experiences of privatisation. The answers of the respondents in reflection of literature and earlier research, illustrate complexity of privatisation. The privatisation can mean better access to users, better working atmosphere to employees, something to compare with but at same time increased expenditure to Region if privatisations procedure is not well thought out. Process of privatisation can be negatively influenced by political antagonism. Political collaboration over "party borders" is needed to develop possibilities and prevent risks at same time. (Less)
