We used this method to interview five youths who live at an HVB-home and we also interviewed five of the personnel who work there. In this essay we used the theories of attachment, risk- and protective mechanisms and the ecology of human development to increase our understanding of the subject. We found that these youths have made positive progress during their stay at the HVB-home. One aspect, which we found to be of great importance for the youths, was the relationships that they have developed at the HVB-home. We could also conclude that the stay there has helped the youths to get a more positive view of their future and their possibilities. (Less)
