Designed Exchangeable Rim Protection Device
(2009) MMK920Innovation
- Abstract
- A common, and reoccurring, problem with aluminum alloy car wheel rims is their ease of
becoming scratched and damaged during normal operation. This phenomenon is
unwanted not only as it aggravates visual appearance, but also as scratches and chippings can contribute to unsuitable product property changes.
The study aims at developing one, or several, product concepts of how to protect
aluminum alloy car wheel rims from scratches and chippings, appearing as a result of
curb collision when parking a vehicle. VCC has requested, at maximum, three different
product concepts of a designed exchangeable rim protection device with belonging
investigations regarding product technology, development time, and development cost.

product concepts of a designed exchangeable rim protection device with belonging
investigations regarding product technology, development time, and development cost.
In addition, design proposals, and physical prototypes, are to be presented for each and
every product concept. The aim of the design process is to display in what way the visual appearance of a car wheel rim, and the car itself, can be modified with the use of the concept at hand. (Less)
