Purpose
Develop (a) new profitable security product(s) for Thule in the most accelerating segment in the RV accessory market.

Method
The thesis is constructed of four phases: planning, data gather and analysis, synthesis and Development. Briefly the phases consist of:
Planning: Familiarization with the problem through interviews and field trips, results in a product mission statement.
Data gather and analysis: Investigating related markets, existing solutions in the field of security, benchmarking of competitors products, interviewing police, insurance companies and users. The result is presented as the function analysis.
Synthesis: Creative sessions including brainstorming and synetics resulting in ideas evaluated according to the criteria in the function analysis.
Development: Sketches will be transformed into prototype CAD-drawings where both technical and aesthetic solutions are better defined. A concept model will be built.

Conclusions
The main area where extra security is needed are the front and main doors of the RV, but the problem regarding how to allow the user to lock/unlock the door from both inside and outside cannot be made as flexible as needed without electronics. Investigations
concerning electronic solutions leads to that the assignment gets too wide. The goals will be impossible to reach within the assigned timeframe according to Thule. A change in direction sets the focus on how to secure the bikes on a bike-carrier. The most complicated criteria’s to fulfil is the weight restrictions and not to hindrance the functions of Euroclassic G5, leading to that that most viable solution is a wire fastened on the bike-holder running through the bike-frames, locking them in
place to an access point on the outer rail. It is not possible to find a solution optimal for both the Omnistor and Thule products, though the product developed can after
changing the inner profile of the attachment fit and work properly on the Omnistor models. The concept best suited to Omnistor’s models is the Pipe concept. (Less)
