Abstract
This paper aims to dig into the world of trucking
and finding new possible solutions to the problems
of pollution.
The project focused on the exterior features of
the modern truck with the goal of combining
aestethics and technology into a more functioning
and desired design.
Research involved interviewing people involved
within the business, particularly drivers in order
to find problem areas from sources that normally
aren’t questioned in these areas but might sit on
valuable information. Also, correspondence with
technicians at major instances within the business
was conducted to confirm the results from
the initial interviews.

This paper aims to dig into the world of trucking

The project focused on the exterior features of
the modern truck with the goal of combining
aestethics and technology into a more functioning
and desired design.

The most significant issue that emerged after the
initial research into fuel consumption reduction
was aerodynamics. The final concept included
several aerodynamic related features wich theoretically
could easily reduce the fuel consumption
with up to 20 percent. Aerodynamic thinking
regarding the rear part of a truck was especially
interesting, resulting in perhaps the most obvious
design feature (rear air-diverters).
A final design concept was created, incorporating
all the technological innovational solutions
aquired in the research faze, and refined in the
analysis faze, involving aerodynamics, ergonomics,
user needs, restrictions and safety aspects. (Less)
