Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to examine if genocide is a subcategory to mass murder and if mass murder should replace genocide as an application alternatively make a change to the convention of genocide. To be able to come to a conclusion of this matter it is needed to describe the definition of both genocide and mass murder on the basis of different theories considering the concepts. It is also needed to define genocide related concepts such as femicide, politicide and ethnic cleansing and examine if these concepts are results of the UN Genocide Convention and if they are subcategories to genocide and mass murder.

The purpose of this essay is to examine if genocide is a subcategory to mass murder and if mass murder should replace genocide as an application alternatively make a change to the convention of genocide. Jonahsson theories of genocide.
The conclusions of this essay are that the UN Genocide Convention should be
changeable through the years and be adjusted to the society since genocide is a subcategory to mass murder and genocide related concepts are subcategories to genocide that are a result of the UN Genocide Convention. (Less)
