- Can human rights education be used to implement the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in the education system of developing countries? Can this be a way to advance child rights not only at school but also in the rest of the community? - Can human rights education be used to implement the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in the education system of developing countries? Can this be a way to advance child rights not only at school but also in the rest of the community? How could human rights training be used to implement the CRC's holistic approach at the global and domestic levels? These are just some of the questions this thesis aims to answer in the present study. Human rights training oriented to professionals working with children constitutes human rights education and it is often used by States and Non-State actors to globally and domestically implement the CRC. Taking as a practical example the ''Child Rights, Classroom and School Management'' training programme, funded by Sida and administered by Lund University Commissioned Education, this study focuses on the practical implementation of legal instruments and their transformation from writing into a practical reality. This study analyses the processes of practical implementation at the global and domestic spheres that mirror the obligations, guidelines and responsibilities expressed in hard and soft law documents related to child rights and education. Paying special attention to the education system as a playground for implementing the CRC as well as observing the role of professionals working with children as key actors in this process. The sociological aspect of human rights is extremely linked to their implementation and it cannot be overlooked when addressing the practical realization of rights. Thus, a marriage between law and practice must take place in order to obtain a complete picture of the process of implementation. This thesis' intention is to show the reader the power of change that human rights education has on governments and societies but particularly on children. Moreover, this text intends to remind legal practitioners of the preventive use of human rights and its impact on the lives of the people they aim to protect, rather than focusing on the damage control aspect they are so used to see when they read the text of a Convention.
