- Abstract
- The small car manufacturer Saab has over the past 20 years been incorporated in the MNC GM. GM has until resent years been the biggest car company in the world. The theories of Stopford and Strange account for the overriding model of explanation in a liberalistic perspective in this thesis, to why states no longer can dictate the rules, they can only bargain. This as a result of the new diplomacy, were states find themselves loosening power and forced to compete for world market shares with MNC as a result of the growing interdependency in the international political economy.
The purpose is to find out if the behavior of the Swedish government can be included as a bargaining in the rules of conduct of the new diplomacy. The results are conclusive. The premises for a Swedish government assumption of Saab lay the rules for the bargaining. (Less)
