The purpose of this study was the basis of Sfi-teachers and social workers viewpoint to look into conditions immigrants have to learn Swedish. As we can see from our study is that there are several factors that are important for learning a second language, but three factors have a prominent role in the whole thing. These three are the student's background, student ability and the structure of the Sfi-learning. We have interviewed six employees in Sfi. Two of them were social workers and the other four were teachers. In our results it appears that psychological difficulties and trauma that the student carries with him since the former affects the student's capacity to absorb new knowledge. We can also see that the earlier study habits and skills in the mother tongue contribute to pupils' ability to assimilate a new language. We can also see that the structure of the Sfi is not always adapted to the student's needs, this basis that there are enough resources to meet the target based on individual needs. The need for a greater availability of teachers with adequate training for the target audience is something we can discern in our results. We have thus through the study noted that the conditions for immigrants to learn the Swedish language depends on a variety of factors, but prominent is the student's background by mental difficulties and the student's previous study habit. But equally important are the conditions under which teachers are working from. From our results we can see that Sfi need more resources so that teachers may be able to teach from the target group needs.
