- Title: A life in crash and bang - research about how musicians with tinnitus cope with their profession
The purpose of this study is to investigate how musicians who have been affected by tinnitus or sound sensitivity deal with their profession. The material of this study consists of five interviews with professional musicians active within the classical music sphere as well as within jazz and rock/blues who have all suffered due to tinnitus and/or sound sensitivity. The results of this study pay attention to the following measures and are categorized after: sick leave/longer absence, the use of ear-plugs, preparing/aftermath related to a concert, adapting to the working environment as well as changes concerning the duties at work. The purpose of this study is to investigate how musicians who have been affected by tinnitus or sound sensitivity deal with their profession. The material of this study consists of five interviews with professional musicians active within the classical music sphere as well as within jazz and rock/blues who have all suffered due to tinnitus and/or sound sensitivity. Based on this study’s collected data and the literature used in this investigation, different measures were taken by the musicians depending on their instrument or the musical genre that the musician in question belongs to. - Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur musiker som har drabbats av tinnitus eller ljudöverkänslighet hanterar sitt yrke. Underlaget för studien består av fem stycken intervjuer med aktiva musiker inom klassisk musik, jazz och rock/blues som drabbats av tinnitus och/eller ljudöverkänslighet. Studiens resultat visar på följande åtgärder och är kategoriserade efter dessa: sjukskrivning/längre uppehåll, användning av öronproppar, förberedelser/efterarbete i samband med konsert, anpassning i arbetsmiljö samt förändring av tjänst.
