A perfect all round solution for humanitarian demining is not very likely because there are many factors; soil, climate, vegetation etc to be taken into account as well as a requirement of security for the deminers and achieving full clearance. The humanitarian demining process is slow, costly, dangerous but important as the presence of landmines and other ERW are a threat and strain on civil society as for individuals. To be able to maintain trust and achieve a positive purpose after demining the principles of impartiality and neutrality are fundamental.
Landmines and ERW threatens life, safety health and livelihood as well as limit the access to natural resources. Children's right are especially affected. (Less)
