Dementia care, currently focusing on the whole patient afflicted with dementia and their interactions with staff, actualized new forms of learning connected to work places. The nursing project “Observation Schedule for Problem Behavior” at the Clinic for Cognitive Medicine was created from of these needs. The purpose of my thesis is to investigate what knowledge could be developed through the nursing project in relation to the staff’s method of working. The essay was written from a socio-cultural perspective. This qualitative study was based on six semi-structured interviews with supervisors and staff in dementia care who had participated in the nursing project. My analysis showed that the project helped the staff develop contextual and collective knowledge which facilitated analytical work and individually adjusted measures for the person with dementia. Within the framework of the project, generative processes were started in the form of collaboration between working groups. (Less)
