- Title: The communicative role of the co-worker during strategic change – A case study of Skåne University Hospital, from a sensemaking perspective. Many organizations of today go through major changes in order to adapt to a fast changing environment. These organizational changes have mainly been studied from a management perspective. In a new approach this empirical and qualitative case study sets out to explore the communicative role of the co-worker from a co-worker and management perspective during a strategic hospital merger between two oncology clinics into one. The aim is to investigate the meaning of the co-worker’s communicative role by considering the significance of contextual aspects on an individual and organizational level and thus move beyond descriptivism. Findings suggest that the notion of the co-worker’s communicative role is related to responsibility and obligations but it is still somewhat unclear what the notion includes and therefore it needs to be investigated further. The study has implications for our understanding of the communicative role of the co-worker in a hospital and merger setting and of the contextual aspects affecting this role. (Less)
