- Abstract
- Communications where the location and environment limits the options is an issue for Samon AB. Some of their gasdetectors work in a marine environment where they are surrounded by steel walls. These steel walls act like a Faraday cage and make radio communication ineffective. Other gasdetectors are retrofitted in hotels when the demand for air-conditioning increases. With retrofitting comes the issue with new cables. Not only a cable for the communications but also for the powersupply. Our solution involves Powerline Communications (PLC) and resolves the issues in both cases. By creating a platform for communication and powersupply in one, and by using existing wiring, no new cables are needed. This makes installation easy and reduces the... (More)
