"Assessing Statkraft's potential and strategic competencies within the hydropower industry, and how they can use this to develop themselves in new global markets" - A strategic analysis based on Porter;s diamond model
(2010) EKHR21 20101Department of Economic History
- Abstract
- Statkraft is Europe’s largest renewable energy company, operating in 23 countries, and employs more than 3000 staff. The company generates and develops renewable energy in a broad range, hydropower, gas power, wind power, district heating and is one of the major players on the European power exchange Nord Pool. This thesis will primarily focus on assessing Statkraft’s potential and strategic competencies in relation to their hydropower industry. I will investigate how they can use their current position to develop themselves into new global markets. Statkraft is a hundred percent governmentally owned company. This has resulted in opposing forces for Statkraft when attempting to implement their international strategy.
