Abstract
The aim of this master thesis is to present a risk assessment method to evaluate fire safety in high rise buildings. The method is essentially based on international building regulations and handbooks, interviews with Boverket (the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning) and interviews with the fire and rescue service. Two case studies have been carried out to investigate how risk assessment methods to evaluate fire safety in high rise buildings are used in Sweden today.
