- Abstract
- This master thesis aims to examine the need for hospital evacuation planning. The thesis is based on results from a literature study in which events that have affected hospitals, have been studied. It is also based on a case study performed at Lidköping hospital. The case study is a risk and vulnerability analysis and seeks to identify risks that can initialize a large evacuation. Hospitals are a central part of the community and are often expected to function, regardless of occurring event. An increasing complexity, changing levels of threat and less recourses result in rising demands concerning contingency planning, which also effects the need for evacua- tion planning. The results in this thesis indicate that there is a need for... (More)

An increasing complexity, changing levels of threat and less recourses result in rising demands concerning contingency planning, which also effects the need for evacua- tion planning. The results in this thesis indicate that there is a need for evacuation planning and therefore some starting points for the planning process are presented in this report. These starting points can be helpful when producing the evacuation plan. The plan should be written by people who have good understanding of the organization, but it is important that the plan- ning process is in focus rather than the production of a written document.
