- Abstract (Swedish)
Vidare undersöktes huruvida könsskillnader i patientgruppens skattningar förelåg. I studien deltog 24 patienter, samtliga flyktingar. Resultaten visade... (More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- In this study, the wellbeing of a collection of patients at the Red Cross Treatment Center for Victims of Torture and War (RCC) has been evaluated. The study was carried out before the start of treatment and six months in to rehabilitation. The evaluation was completed using self assessment forms which took in to account: PTSD, anxiety, depression, wellbeing, function, symptoms and risk. Assessment was also made regarding the role played by gender upon the results. In addition, the aim of this dissertation was also to judge whether other variables had affected the patient’s rehabilitation, and if so, what these factors were. A group of 24 patients consisting entirely of refugees participated in the study. More than 90 percent of those... (More)

A group of 24 patients consisting entirely of refugees participated in the study. More than 90 percent of those surveyed met the PTSD criteria, in most cases with long-term symptoms due to repeated trauma. However, the results revealed that the patient group had made significant progress by the second point of evaluation concerning PTSD-symptom, in particular hyperarousal. At the second point of evaluation the female patients showed higher signs of PTSD, depression and anxiety than their male counterparts. Health and accommodation were mentioned as factors that affected the rehabilitation, and were reported to have had both a negative and a positive effect on aspects of the treatment. To conclude, the patients who have been treated at the RCC show an improved sense of wellbeing compared to before the start of treatment. (Less)
